The marquee of Webster Hall, closed for renovations, was at risk of falling Sunday, according to Department of Buildings records.
The marquee “suffered some minor damage,” police said, and appeared partially dislodged from the front of the iconic nightclub. The NYPD requested a DOB inspection Sunday, records show.
A temporary structure was placed under the marquee to hold it up, photos from the NYPD’s 9th precinct show.
Part of the street was blocked off Sunday, police said.
The landmarked Webster has been closed since August 2017. Its owners filed several construction permits in December related to expected renovations.
The Department of Buildings did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
