Man charged with raping 64-year-old woman in Bronx home: NYPD

A man was charged Wednesday with raping a 64-year-old woman, who relies on a walker to get around, after following her into her Bronx apartment Monday night, police said.

Unga Smith, 40, of the Bronx, is accused of stalking the woman for about 40 minutes before following her into her building near East Gun Hill Road and Dekalb Avenue in Norwood around 6:30 p.m., according to police and a law enforcement source.

Smith then pushed her inside her bedroom and raped her, the source said. She offered him money to leave, according to the source, and he took about $250 before fleeing.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of Smith Tuesday night. He was charged with rape, robbery, burglary, criminal sex act and sexual abuse, police said.
