Many local social justice organization and city locals are using social media to organize rallies, protests and demonstrations throughout the week following Election Day to express their views on the Donald Trump win.
Here are organized demonstrations and protests happening around the city today calling to rally against president-elect Trump:
The Answer Coalition has organized a "Say No to Trump! Say No to Racism! Defend Immigrants!" protest at 5:30 p.m. in Columbus Circle.
This event, held at Columbus Circle from 4:30 to 6 p.m., will consist of a gathering, news conference and a call to action. Speakers include Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi, Heather C. McGhee from Demos Action and more. Artists including Amy Leon will perform.
Socialist Alternative, NYC is organizing a protest and march beginning in Union Square Park at 6 p.m. According to the Facebook event, the protest will travel uptown to Trump Tower.
This event is calling for a "Love Rally" in Washington Square Park from 2 to 7 p.m. this Friday. Created by Facebook user Sydney Miller, the rally aims to "let Muslims, women, those who have disabilities, latinx people, and everyone else Donald Trump has put down to get this far know that this country doesn't hate them."
