PENNSYLVANIA, U.S. - A flash mob with over 200 teenagers turned violent in Philadelphia, with college students and a police horse being attacked, leading to the incarceration of four teenagers.

According to the police, the attack was not planned and took place after some of the hundreds of teenagers could not get into a movie theatre after they planned the meeting on social media.

Officials stated that out of the 200 teenagers present at the protest, about 20 to 30 of them assaulted students, punched a police horse twice in the face after pushing a Temple officer to the ground.

According to the Campus safety records, two robberies, two major assaults, two minor assaults and two incidents of harassment have been recorded.

The attacks took place between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Joe Lauletta, father of one of the assault victims, Christina Lauletta wrote in a Facebook post, “I find out that her and her two male friends were badly beaten by a group of 30-40 teenagers on their way home from the Temple football game. These sick animals held her down and kicked and stomped on her repeatedly. Thank god, the people from the pizza place intervened. They arrested two people at the scene. I have not let Christina out of my sight, she is resting. Every part of her body is badly bruised, it makes me cry just thinking about it. No broken bones. If you have children at Temple, tell them to be careful.”

A junior at Temple University talked about how she and her boyfriend were beaten by the mob up until they realised that the junior was a woman.

She stated, “Two kids followed us and hit my boyfriend. My boyfriend ran and got away but the second I tried to run, they grabbed me by my hair and started beating my head and back. I somehow got to the other side of Oxford Street by the time they got me to the ground. I remember shoes coming for my face and after that I heard other kids from the group saying ‘Yo chill, yo chill it’s just a girl’ and they pulled my attackers off me. I got up and ran in the direction of my boyfriend’s house but no one was interested in me anymore.”

A number of teenagers were arrested but four juveniles, aged between 15 and 17, have been charged with assault.
