A 47-year-old man was fatally struck by a southbound 6 train at the Astor Place subway station Tuesday night, police said.
The man is believed to have jumped in front of the train, a law enforcement source said. He was hit around 11:20 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.
This incident comes less than 48 hours after a man jumped in front of a train at the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station Monday morning. Over the weekend, a man was also pushed by an intoxicated friend at the 18th Street station on Seventh Avenue.
Since October, at least eight people have died after being hit by trains, the MTA said. The agency has revived talks about installing platform doors in response to the recent deaths.
