Beyoncé rips out earring at show, keeps performing

Pop star Beyoncé pushed through any pain and continued a concert unabated in Brooklyn over the weekend after accidentally ripping out an earring mid-show.

As captured by audience videos at Saturday’s multi-artist Tidal X 1015 benefit concert at the Barclays Center — and in particular on a livestream feed with close-ups — Beyoncé was concluding her first song, “6 Inch,” when it appeared as if the large, dangling earring on her left ear became entangled in her long, whip-like braid. As she segued into “Haunted,” without missing a beat, she raised her left hand to the ear, rubbed it momentarily, then briefly glanced at her hand. She continued through the first verse, then to great applause and cheering asked the audience, “How y’all doing?”

Later in the show, which featured a lineup including Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, Common, TIP, DNCE, Robin Thicke and many others, Beyoncé, 35, performed her song “All Night” as an encore, reported Us Weekly, which notes her ear remained unbandaged.

On a 15-second video posted Saturday on the Twitter feed of the entertainment-news site The Shade Room, a caption read, “Beyonce continues to kill the stage at #TidalX1015 after realizing her ear starts to bleed after ripping her earring out.” A fan who posted a similar video tweeted, “Talk about blood, sweat & tears. This woman is unstoppable — yes she just realized her ear was bleeding & pushed all the way through.”

The singer’s representatives did not respond to a Billboard request for comment, and Beyoncé made no mention of the injury on Twitter or Instagram.

The concert benefited the 28-year-old New York City foundation Robin Hood, a poverty-fighting nonprofit organization that notes on its website that its board of directors “pays all administrative, fundraising and evaluation costs, so 100% of your donation goes directly to organizations helping New Yorkers in need.”
